Last night at the Poinsett Cafe

Tonight will be the last night here at our homestead until early August. We leave tomorrow around lunch for Atlanta and then off to San Fran and San Jose on Monday.

The time has really gone by in a flash since we first started thinking, praying and talking about this incredible adventure.

The excitement is growing leaps and bounds in our home. Tammy is hanging on despite the evening sickness she gets as our little surprise from God keeps growing. Kirkland and Kaylee are bouncing off the walls talking about the plane, fishing and how they want God's little unexpected blessing to be a boy or a girl. You can guess which one wants the boy and who wants a little sister. Meanwhile, I am cool as a cucumber.....yeah right!!!

The latter half of 2008 will be a blast, no doubt about that.

Well, off to pack a little more. It's amazing how much an Adidas bag meant for a baseball uniform, glove and spikes can actually hold.

No promises on the next update. I will have to see how everything shakes out in San Jose. Photos will be coming soon.........

Meet the Fire, meet the Fire...........

In tune with the old Mets song here is your chance to meet the Fire, meet the Fire, step right up and greet the Fire. Okay, maybe that tune is set for the Mets, but here is the link to view the 2008 roster as of today.

With less than a week remaining before the team meets up in San Jose, California the roster could change a little, but for the most part it is set. Click HERE to see the 2008 Fire.

Just in case you want to hear the Mets song, click HERE.

By the way, I am NOT a Met fan, I bleed Dodger Blue!!

One week and counting

What does "one" have in common with this blog? Well, as of today we have "one" week left before we leave for Atlanta and then to California. It also looks as if "one" other person has left a comment on one of the posts below. That's okay, "one" is better than none.

Anyway, it is down to one week. One week and our family will be leaving to spend the night in Atlanta and then wake up Monday, June 2 and fly to San Fran and then be picked up on a van for San Jose.

Wow, just seemed like yesterday our spring season was getting underway in Florida in late January. Time flies when you are having fun!

As our departure times grow closer I just want to thank the numerous individuals that have provided financial support for this trip. Without that support this trip would not be possible. Thank you also to everyone that is praying and will be praying for us over the next two months. Keep sending those prayers out daily.

Life is good and God is even better. He has provided for all our needs and I see that on a daily basis. It's funny, sometimes you have to stand still and let God show you the doors He wants open. It's tough, because so many times we have that internal desire to go our own way and hope God follows us along the route. I heard a song this morning at Church about standing still. I should probably try that more often and see what God has in store.

I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day. Whatever you might be doing tomorrow try and stop for a few minutes and thank God for freedom and remember all the brave men and women that fought for our freedom at some point in history. I get all wound up just thinking about being away from my comfort zone for two months, just imagine those in our military that are away for years at a time, fighting for our protection and the freedom of others. Lee Greenwood said it best....."I am proud to be an American....."

Food in Alaska

Chris Beck, AIA Director of Baseball and coach with the Alaska team, recently sent this video link on the technique of obtaining our food this summer. Looks interesting to say the least. I am sure my son, Kirkland, will enjoy fishing this summer in Alaska.
